Concerned about traffic speeds in Charlbury?

Charlbury’s Community Speedwatch volunteers are looking for a new lead co-ordinator, following the retirement of Jim Holah.  Jim has put in a huge amount of work to measure speeds, lead efforts to raise awareness of dangerous driving behaviour and pressing the authorities to make our town safer.

The Town Council has supported Speedwatch initiatives with investment of over £10,000 in the speed monitoring devices seen around our town from time to time.  These have provided useful insight and data helping us understand where excessive speeds are.

A co-ordinator is required by Thames Valley Police as a point of contact, to log information and ensure that basic risk assessments are followed.

Speedwatch is also looking for new volunteers to help run sessions (ideally three people are required for safety purposes) at different locations around town and this would suit anyone with an interest in their work and the odd hour or two to spare. Brief training is provided.

If you’re interested please contact Lisa, the town clerk in the first instance: 07311 259412
